We, as a St. John community, have many reasons for enthusiasm. Enrollment is increasing, test scores continue to exceed state and national averages and the school is updating textbooks and support materials. Bottom line? Our children are receiving a superior education that will prepare them for life - professionally, socially and spiritually. A Catholic education has been available in Independence for over 150 years, and we pray our school will continue for another 150 years. The truth is we couldn't be here without support from you, our parents, the St. John Parish Community and the Parent Teacher Organization. We ask you all to join with your fellow alums donating to St. John in one of two ways. The first option is through a program called Our Faith, Our Children, Our Future, a school tuition organization(STO). Through this program you can donate money that will be specifically earmarked to St. John students and receive a 65% Iowa income tax credit. You can access more information about this program by visiting www.arch.pvt.k12.ia.us. The second option is to donate money to our school and earmark it for a specific cause. Some of the options are; the endowment fund, technology, student tuition, and many others. A Big Thank You Alumni! We would just like to thank anyone who donated to the adopt-a-student program, and the STO for tuition assistance. Our son Troy is a kindergartener this year, and our youngest son Matt will be in kindergarten next year. We have been very pleased with St. John Elementary and its dedicated staff, and would like to continue their education at St. John's. With this program we should be able to do so.
