Technology

The intent of the St. John Technology Program is to provide the highest quality technology instruction and equipment to our students and staff. The lab is equipped with 24 computers. Each classroom is also supplied with iPads and iMacs to integrate technology into the core curriculum. An upgraded wireless system was installed throughout the school Fall 2014.

Students in kindergarten through eighth grade receive between 30-60 minutes in technology instruction each week. Kindergarten though second graders learn how to use the computer, technology vocabulary, and age appropriate software. Third through fifth graders begin using Word, PowerPoint, and Excel to create documents and projects. Formal typing instruction begins in third grade. Fifth through eighth grades utilize the Google for Education program, which includes email, Google Docs, and Google Drive. Students in these grades are applying their knowledge from previous years to create dynamic projects and presentations.
