The technology lab is equipped with 24 personal computers. Each classroom in grades PreK-4 through 2 are supplied with iPads, while all students in grades 3 - 8 are assigned a chromebook to integrate technology into the core curriculum. An upgraded wireless system was recently installed throughout the school.
Students in kindergarten through eighth grade receive between 30-60 minutes in technology instruction each week. Kindergarten though second graders learn how to use the computer, technology vocabulary, and age appropriate software. Although students begin learning how to code as early as first grade, students in grades three through five also begin using Word, PowerPoint, and Excel to create documents and projects. Formal typing instruction begins in third grade. Fifth through eighth grades utilize the Google for Education program, which includes email, Google Docs, and Google Drive. Students in these grades are applying their knowledge from previous years to create dynamic projects and presentations. Middle school students are also taught how to create projects one of our two 3-D printers.
